DescriptionMug, with straight sides, grooved looped handle, and especially prominent foot ring. The handle with gilt sprigs at terminals and upper portion. Of Gros Bleu (or dark blue) ground with two large oval reserves. One painted with bird looking over shoulder to left. The bird with feathers in magenta, yellow, dark purple, and rust with much darker speckles. With wings of gray and blue. The bird seemingly perched in a small tree or large bush in a garden setting with flowers and rocks. The other with crouching bird in dark purple, magenta, blue, and yellow with black spots looking upward at smaller bird in similar colors. The birds in a verdant garden setting with copper-colored foliage, rocks, small blue and pink flowers and a spindly tree. Both reserves with elaborate gilt borders of network, double ogee curves, gadrooning, and tassels.
