DescriptionTeapot: globular body with crabstock handle applied opposite the crabstock spout with a seven-hole grate; conforming lid with a spool knop with central steam hole. Painted in red enamel: one side depicts a seated woman reading a book and resting her proper left elbow next to a dove-topped tomb on which is painted “Solitude is / my Choice”; the other side depicts a house and church with a bird weathervane atop its steeple, all amid a landscape with a tree and a stylized column of the ionic order.Inscription(s)Painted on one side with "Solitude is / my Choice".Mark(s)NoneProvenanceIn 2019, in the collection of Leonard Clarke (Vancouver, British Columbia).
