DescriptionTest panel for iron railing that was copied at the Governor's Palace.Label TextBlacksmith Ferrante “Fred” Ferrari was contracted to make much of the ironwork for the Palace, including the weathervane and balcony. This pattern of the balcony, which can be seen throughout the Historic Area, is based on a railing at Drayton Court in England. Ferrari, born in Italy and settled in Newport News, produced metalwork for the 1926 restoration of the Wythe House, his first effort for what would become Colonial Williamsburg.ca. 1897-1930
