DescriptionSilver salver of undulating circular form with an applied rim composed of six gadrooned sections set above shaped sides which slope into a flat well. The components of the rim are cast, as are its three scrolled legs with pad feet.Inscription(s)Engraved with the Fowle family arms and crest. The arms are composed of a shield, enclosed within a floral wreath, bearing a lion passant between three roses, below a crest of an armored arm, holding a battle axe, and emanating from a coronet.Mark(s)London silver hallmarks for 1773, plus the maker's mark of "R R" in relief within a rectangle (not listed in Grimwade).ProvenanceFowle Family
