It has been suggested that the modeler found his inspiration in a painting by Murillo (ca. 1660) showing the head, shoulders, and arm of a girl raising her veil. A second example of the Chelsea model was formerly in the Salting Collection, while a third is recorded without information about its history.Inscription(s)Double-barb anchor painted in gold on the back of plinthMark(s)NoneProvenanceEx.
