DescriptionAppearance: Side or writing table with rectangular, overhanging top molded with molded edge on front and sides; straight skirt; straight legs, square in cross section with bead on outside corner and chamfered on inside corner.Construction: Mortise and tenone frame constrution. The three board top has been pegged and nailed from the top to the four rails. At this point, the pegs and nails are no longer functional and the top is secured with two pocket screws from each of the rails.
The rails are tenoned with double pegs to the legs. Vertical glue blocks (all modern, some with additional screws) reinforce the joining of each leg and rail.
The edges of the ends and one side of the top are shaped with an integral ogee molding. The end edges overhang the edges 3”, the molded side 1” and the unmolded side (possibly cut back) overhangs by ½”.
A full length bead decorates the outside corners of the legs and the inside corners are chamfered from just beneath the rails to the bottom. The table is entirely walnut with the exception of modern yellow pine glue-blocks.
