DescriptionAppearance: Chest over drawer with four graduated drawers (the top two false), the top drawer facade divided with molding to look like two small drawers; teardrop shaped brass drawer pulls with pierced round backplates and pierced diamond shaped escutcheons on each drawer; hinged top with overhanging, molded edge and battens under the edges of the sides; drawers surrounded by applied bead; straight feet with shaped brackets; painted green with white squiggles.Woods: The case is of white pine with maple molding strips, except for the strip above the top drawer which is of pine; the drawer linings are partly of white pine and partly of yellow pine; the backboards are yellow pine; the two bottom boards and the interior blocks of the feet are oak.Inscription(s)According to a paper found in the drawer, this chest was made by Jonathan Small of South Harwich, Massachusetts.
