DescriptionWoman's shoe, one of a pair, constructed of purple silk satin embroidered with metallic silver thread and sequins in pattern of flowers, scallops, and a bowknot holding flower bouquet on the toe. Needlework outlines the upper edges of the shoe and tongue with repeated scallops. Shoe has blunt slightly pointed toe and straps (latchets) intended to buckle over instep with a removable buckle. Straps are bound with cream silk. Squared tongue. Three-inch high, shaped heel, sometimes called "Louis" heel. Lined with linen, leather, and silk (silk tongue lining is replaced on shoe #1).
