DescriptionTambourine Stool; round stool with burl veneer on seat; sides of seat ebonized and have six round wafers inserted half way into horizontal mortises spaced evenly around center of seat side; bead along lower edge of seat; four turned legs taper up towards seat, inlaid vertically with four dark wood strings.

Woods: tulip poplar seat veneered on top with burl walnut; maple legs and wafers; dark string inlay possibly walnut.Label TextThis stool, made with its seat in the shape of a tambourine supported by four turned and inlaid legs reminiscent in shape of bridge pins used on some acoustic guitars from as early as the late 18th century, is a companion piece to the banjo chair 1991.2000.4. The construction, materials, and design of the stool and chair suggest that they were made by the same unknown maker. Whether they were intended as a set or as individual components is unknown, but together or individually they make an exciting folk music statement.
