DescriptionPewter mug of quart size; tall tapered straight sides with molding at rim, fillet mid-band above lower handle attachment and above two-part molded base band; ample scroll handle with simple grip at shoulder and in a ball terminal soldered to the body at rim and below mid-band. Uninscribed as to owner.Label TextThis firm consisted of a partnership between Preston Edgar I and James Curtis, both of Bristol. They had previously been partners with Robert Bush in the firm of Robert Bush & Co., dissolved in 1793. Edgar, Curtis & Co. began in that year, for, according to Cotterell, it is mentioned in the Matthew's First Bristol Directory of 1793/94, as well as in the directory of 1801. The figure of Neptune appropriately appears in the mark of this firm that sent cargoes of its product by ship to America.
