Label TextThis 1687 "Rider" ducaton, named for the mounted knight on the obverse, is made of gold and was struck with specially engraved and polished dies, resulting in a stunning piece with mirror-like surfaces. While regular ducatons of this type were made of silver and didn't have reflective surfaces or so much detail, these exceptional pieces are known as "proofs."
