DescriptionTeacup, hemispherical with low, circular foot ring and stylized small C-shaped handle with thumb rest on top and modified scroll at lower juncture. The interior rim of the cup has a narrow gilded band between two fine brown lines. The exterior of cup is painted in green, brown, pink, red, blue, yellow, and gilt with a seaside scene of a woman and man embracing as the man gestures to a ship flying the Danish colors in the distance. This scene, known as the "Sailor's Farewell," is adapted from an engraving of this title by T. Booth after L. P. Boitard, 1744.
