DescriptionWoman's gown bodice in cream silk satin fully lined with off-white plain-woven linen. Bodice has deep squared neckline with drawstring. Fastened edge-to-edge at center front with boned lacing strips. Bodice dips to deep points at center front and center back. Long two-piece sleeves, shaped to curve over elbows, ending with two self-fabric buttons and buttonholes at wrist opening. Sleeves lined with linen. Bodice back constructed with two shaped panels with boning down the center back. See 2002-96 for matching petticoat.Label TextThis bodice is said to be part of a wedding ensemble from the Plumstead / Ross family of Philadelphia. It was probably worn by Anna Ross (1776-1846) when she married Philadelphia merchant George Plumstead (1765-1805). The
