DescriptionStriking three-masted ship with American-type flag on the center mast and also on the low aft sail. A lighthouse and small house on the center right side. Wallpaper strips form border. The ship appears to be an imaginative representation of one of the frigates that formed the first navy of the new American Republic. The few gunports (nine all on one level) indicate a non-literal representation, but the vessel type is identified by the lofty rig and lack of sheer.
Modern edge frame of lath strips, painted black.
