DescriptionMen's breeches of black silk satin. Wide waistband, with welted watch pocket at right front and three covered buttons at center front opening (one missing); top button has lost its interior bone shaping). Fall front buttoned at each side and center; two buttons are missing their inner shaping. No pockets except watch pocket. Legs are long and slim, ending below knee and fastening with 1 1/4" knee band and 4 small buttons (all but 3 missing), on each side. Back very slightly gathered for seat fullness; triangular linen gusset in back waist with 4 eyelets for adjustment. Fully lined with linen.ProvenanceWorn by a member of the Virginia Tazewell family.
