DescriptionApperancee: Square table with overhanging top with squared edge; one drawer with central oval brass drawer pull; square tapered legs.

Construction: The rails and drawer blade are tenoned to the square legs which, below the rails, taper down to the floor. The three board top is joined with modern pocket screws to the rails. Plugs in top and top of rails and legs indicate former pegs to the legs and side rails. The drawer guides are glued and probably nailed to the side rails, and the drawer supports are nailed to the drawer guides.

The drawer is of dovetail construction with each side having two dovetails in the front and one large dovetail in the back. Sides and back are tulip poplar. The two board tulip poplar side to side grained bottom is chamfered to fit into dados in the front and sides and was nailed from the underside to the bottom edge of the back (nails are now missing and the bottom has been extended with a nailed wood strip (needed due to shrinkage).
Inscription(s)“Mrs. Crumpler” written in pencil and “3059” in ink, both on drawer bottom, with “3059” also on the inside of a side rail. The number probably for Market Square Tavern room #3059.
