From "The Sporting Magazine,": “JOSEPH GILLIVER, the subject of the Plate, was a native of the small town of Polesworth in Warwickshire, where he resided during the whole of his life. He was the most celebrated cock-feeder England ever produced, and was remarkable for his strict integrity and honesty, qualities most essential for one for his profession…He died in 1833, in his 74th.”
