DescriptionFour square tiles. White tin glaze and powdered green ground with red flecks decorated in red, blue, and green with a vase of flowers and a pair of birds. Shape of vase and arrangement of flowers vary on each tile; red carnation corners.Label TextPowdered yellow-green ground is rare on English delft, appearing only on a few London plates and on tiles such as these. This design, including the birds and the corners, comes in various color combinations, such as blue with manganese ground, manganese with manganese ground, polychrome with blue ground, and blue with brown (brick red) ground. Other variations include circular reserves, cherub-head corners, and the vase without the birds.
