DescriptionBreeches of unlined twill-woven silk; now beige, originally pink: two button fall front; laced closure at back of waist; self fabric vent filling, pockets with third watch pocket in waistband; 5 button knee closure; cloth buttons. cloth covered. Knee button placket, waistband, and pockets lined with linen. Linen pockets. Center back seam covered with linen tape. Three button waistband closure, with 2 buttons missing. This fabric appears to match that of waistcoat, 1981-181.ProvenanceNote found in right waistcoat pocket (G1971-181) : "Short-clothes/ belonging to/ Thomas Hamilton Henderson,/ Grand son of/ Judge John Blair./ Born 1798-Died 1814./ Presented by Mrs. W.B. Robertson." Worn by Judge John Blair, Williamsburg, 1732-1800.
