DescriptionSoft-paste porcelain press-molded soup plate with lobed rim. The ledge has a blue ground and then has gilt stars, dots, stylized flowers and spider webs. There is a line of gilding on the edge of the plate and at the top of the cavetto. There is a central painted medallion on the dish that is encircled in an elaborate, gilt frame. The medallion is decorated with an image of women, identified as "Hope," leaning against a wall. One of her elbows rests on the ledge of the wall. She wears neoclassical style clothing. Her shawl and the hem of her dress are curling as they are blow in the wind. There is an anchor on the ground to her left. In the distance, there is a boat. This monochromatic image is painted with shades of grey.
