DescriptionDesk with inset slanted front of burl walnut veneer outlined with herringbone banding and a flat molding applied to the perimeter of the face above a rectangular section with burl walnut veneer and herringbone banding containing two half height lopers with brass knobs; rounded cross-banded surbase molding on front and sides of case; two small drawers over two large graduated drawers each with burl walnut veneer outlined with herringbone banding; rounded cross-banded molding of same dimension as surbase molding applied to drawer dividers and front edges of sides, mitered at joints; ogee base molding above flattened ball feet; drawers and lid have engraved brass drawer pulls and escutcheons; interior of desk has a rectangular sliding lid with a rounded molding around it in the back of the writing surface to access well; over the well access are four pigeon holes over three drawers, center drawer is the width of two pigeon holes; center section flanked on each end by a deeper pigeon hole with a drawer below and a scalloped divider; proper left deep drawer has a divided section at the front; both deep drawers have small secret drawers behind them accessed by long attached lathe inset into outer side of the drawer opening.
