Basking Ridge is in Somerset County, NJ.ProvenanceSigned on underside by Lydia Bird of Basking Ridge, NJ. This may have been the Lydia A. Bird (1838-1861) who married Peter Layton Compton in Basking Ridge March 2, 1861. Another Lydia Bird (b. 1780) appeared with her husband John G. Bird on the 1850 US census in Warren, NJ, less than 10 miles from Basking Ridge.ca. 1740
