DescriptionAppearance: Easy chair, Serpentine crest rail flanked by curvilinear wings; arms scroll outward terminating with vertically cone-shaped supports; seat trapezoidal; legs cabriole possessing pointed knees, ogee blocks, and pad feet resting on thick disks; rear legs curve outward featuring chamfered along edges at feet and beveled outer edges that continue up stiles; turned side stretchers feature tapered doric columns flanked by chamfered blocks and bulbous vases; turned medial and rear stretchers possess central elongated elements flanked by cones.

Construction: elements maple except where noted; rear legs and stiles single piece; stiles tenoned into crest rail; wing rails open tenoned into stiles and each secured with two rose head nails; wing stiles tenoned into wing rails and side seat rails; arm supports (right ash) tenoned into side seat rails; conal projections (white pine) glued to outside surface of supports and reinforced with two rose head nails; arm secured to wing stiles with open tenon joint and two rose head nails; arms secured to each support with two rose head nails; rear tacking rail tenoned into stiles; walnut front, side, and rear seat rails tenoned into walnut front and maple rear legs; each walnut knee block secured to front legs with two rose head nails; side and rear walnut stretchers tenoned into legs (sides rectangular and rear round tenons); walnut medial stretcher found tenoned into side stretchers; side stretchers secured to rear legs with pins (through outer surface only).
Inscription(s)Upholsterer's line in white chalk drawn on inner side of wing stiles. "9609/23" in pencil on inner side of right wing stile.
