DescriptionNatural (pale tone) wool damask with undulating fancy lace pattern forming half-ogival compartments in which are centered semi-naturalistic floral sprays brocaded in bright colors (rose, pink, lt & dk. blues, yellow, blue-greens, and black); fashioned into large cover with red and white silk fringe on all sides. Taken apart at some time after accessioning. Now in eight pieces.Label TextWorsted wool textiles were predominately produced in the Norwich area of England. They often mimicked finer and more expensive silk textiles but could be purchased at a cheaper price. This length of fabric was probably used for a woman's gown.ca. 1765
