DescriptionThis is an overshot coverlet: (4-harness) in dark indigo blue homespun wool on natural cotton tabby ground. The pattern is a variation of "one of the most famous of the old patterns appearing again and again in the old work in modified forms", i.e., wheel pattern called in the 19th c. "Sun, Moon, and Stars." Coverlet woven in 2 32" width strips and seamed vertically, with pattern well-matched at seam; hemmed top and bottom.1830-1860
