Descriptionteapot with hinged lidLabel TextThe mark on this piece would appear to be a late mark of Robert Bush & Co. or a mark principally used by Robert Bush II, in either case for export wares. Its use appears limited to hollowware with an American background. This teapot is an early instance of the use of a cast metal handle that probably was originally painted or japanned black.Inscription(s)NoneMark(s)Touch mark "R-BUSH" on interior center-bottom of base (Peak MPM 738). Secondary mark a quality "X" with crown above stamped above touch mark on interior of baseProvenanceVendor: Thomas C. Campbell, Hawleyville, Connecticut.
