DescriptionWoman's shoe, one of a pair, made of yellow-gold silk damask bound with yellow silk ribbon. Shoe is fashioned with rounded toe, thick 2 1/2"-high heel, and straps (latchets) over a high squared tongue. Shoe is lined with natural linen and toe is constructed with white rand. Shoe was originally fastened with a removable buckle.

ProvenanceOriginal donor believed shoes came from Glasgow, Scotland and that they dated 1714. Stylistically, the shoes are closer to 1730 to 1750.
