DescriptionBracket clock with rectangular, molded case with domed top terminating in large brass strap carrying handle; arched, glazed doors with molded frames, at front and rear; front and rear doors have small triangles of red fabric in upper corners; each side of case composed of circular window above rectanglular window; molded base above four, molded bracket feet (feet constructed of square blocks with strips of molding added on two outside edges); arched, brass dial plate with large clock dial at lower center bordered by four rococo gilt spandrels; dial composed of outer band of arabic numbers at intervals of five from five to sixty; inner circle of Roman numerals from I-XII; broad, scrolled hour hand, longer, pointed minute hand; small, rectangular hole in lower part of dial reveals date; strike, silent dial in arch at top bordered by a pair of gilt spandrels; rear window reveals ornately engraved back plate, and swinging pendulum.Woods: Primary: oak and deal; Secondary: brass and glass fittingsLabel TextSpring-driven, pendulum regulated table clocks like this example were very fashionable in the eighteenth century.
