Nominally an inch a across, it would have been amongst the most useful chisels in an early American woodworker’s tool chest.Mark(s)"P.LAW" with a crown to the right, struck into the iron portion of the blade. Handle marked "R.BOWDEN" several times on the handle (some over earlier marks).
