DescriptionAppearance: Rectangular dressing table with overhanging top with slightly rounded top edge; straight skirt with sides and rails tenoned and pegged into tops of legs; large drawer with overlapping front with thumbnail molded edge; straight, tapered, and rounded legs terminate in ball and claw feet.Construction notes: drawer supports set in open mortise in drawer blade and pegged; drawer guide nailed to case side; drawer bottom rabbeted around front and sides, set in dado, nailed across back; frame double pegged to legs.
Woods: black walnut with tulip poplar drawer sides and back, yellow pine drawer bottom, and beech drawer guide on one side.Mark(s)Roman numerals inscribed on underside of front rail, sides, and back at ends and on corresponding legs.Provenance20th century history in Eastern Maryland.
