DescriptionChandelier: Cut glass chandelier with central ball stem, six cut arms with slip over pans, and upper and lower canopies. The canopies, arms, and pans hung with cut glass drops of various shapes. Colorless lead glass with silvered metal mounts.
Detailed description from top down:
1. Large upper canopy with scalloped edge, cut with flat spiral flutes and an outer ring of large flat diamonds and hung with eight small plain kite drops alternating with eight faceted kite drops.
2. Small baluster cut with hollow diamonds (20th century replacement).
3. Medium baluster cut with notched flutes and fields of large diamonds.
4. Small compressed disk cut with flat diamonds.
5. Large ball cut all over with various flat diamonds.
6. Large inverted baluster cut with notched flutes and fields of large diamonds.
7. Silvered receiver bowl cut all over with various flat diamonds (contains a silvered receiver plate with apertures for six arms).
8. Short inverted baluster cut with notched flutes and large diamonds (20th century replacement, possibly by Wilkinson).
9. Smaller lower canopy with scalloped edge, cut with outer ring of large flat diamonds and hung with six plain kite drops alternating with six faceted kite drops.
10. Lower pear-shaped finial with knoped stem, cut with diamonds and notched flutes.
11. Six S-shaped arms cut with hollow diamonds, each hung with either drops in the form of a cut baluster and a small kite or with a large and small kite drops. One arm is a 20th century replacement.
12. Six slip over pans (four 18th century examples with ten points; one 20th century Wilkinson example, very heavy, with ten points; and one 18th century (?) example with nine points).
