DescriptionCast finial of compressed baluster form and octagonal plan with rivet attachment through caste fluted calyx soldered to top of cover; tall domed cover of octagonal plan with each panel pierced with the same flowering urn design; cover cast in four parts vertically with the seams at the corners between every other panel; short bezel on cover with two small lugs fitting notches in rim of body to form a bayonet fitting; body of elongated baluster form and octagonal plan with molded rim above a short contracted neck and elaborately molded splayed foot; body, like cover, cast in four parts vertically with the seams at the corners between every other panel; separate base plate.Inscription(s)Engraved English royal arms and monogram of Queen Anne.Mark(s)MA in block letters with crown above and mullet below.ProvenanceEnglish royal plate; Earls of Lonsdale (probably acquired in 1808); sold by Sir James Hugh William Lowther, 7th earl of Lonsdale, at Christie, Manson & Woods, Ltd., London, 1975; purchased at auction by C.J.
