DescriptionReverse painting on glass of a single yellow-gold wheat stack in a green field. Mountains are depicted in the background beneath a blue sky.Label TextOil was the usual medium for painting on glass although watercolor is also mentioned in the early instruction books. In this type of painting the outlines of the design were drawn first, after which the highlights and ground colors were added in reverse order from that usually employed.ProvenanceAbby Aldrich Rockefeller; given by the latter to the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY, in 1939; given by MoMA to CWF in June 1954.
