DescriptionMan's waistcoat, collarless and sleeveless, made of pale green ribbed silk, brocaded to shape and further embroidered with silk threads, metal-wrapped threads, sequins, pink foil, and metal bobbin lace. Design consists of small-scale three-leaf clovers scattered on ground ("powdered"), with heavier twining and meandering lace and flowers down fronts, edging hems, and on shaped pocket flaps. Twelve metal thread-covered buttons are buttoned to an inner flap which forms an extension of the fustian lining (that is, the buttonholes are not worked through the primary fabric of the left front). Pocket flaps are decorative, no functional pockets. Two different napped linen and cotton "fustian" twill linings. Waistcoat has been shortened at level of pocket flaps.
Note: waistcoat brocaded in same pattern as 1971-2, except different colors.
