DescriptionRectangular whole-cloth quilt made of a copperplate-printed textile in red on natural tabby-woven cotton. The textile is printed in a pattern of irises and tall grasses. The quilting is worked through cotton batting to a backing of reused sheets made of natural tabby-woven cotton. The quilting pattern is one of large diamond lozenges centered with 4-petal flowers, surrounded by border of smaller diamonds. The photograph shows a detail.ProvenancePurchased from New York dealer and possibly used in America.
