DescriptionClassic form of the 18th c. hornless anvil with a flat rectangular top cut with a hardie hole, deeply concave sides with rectangular lifting holes, and outwardly curving corners.Label TextWith pointed feet, steeply concave sides and a narrow rectangular top, this anvil has classic early features. It carries the date of its manufacture “1722,” deeply chiseled into one of its larger sides, and its top has a “hardie hole,” for mounting square-shanked tools.Mark(s)The date "17:22" chiseled and punched into one side.
