DescriptionBolster cover marked in ink "E Van Renssel[a]er" and in worn gold cross stitch "[E]S". Cover is constructed in long rectangular shape from white linen in plain or tabby weave with thread count of 48-49 warps X 46 wefts per inch. Open end is finished with turned and stitched hems about 3/16" wide. Two pairs of half-inch wide by 9 1/2 inch long linen tape ties are stitched to the inside 1 1/2 inches from edge. Opposite end has linen bobbin lace insertion stitched between hems. Bolster cover is constructed from two pieces of linen with butted selvage and felled seams; old patches and darns support holes and weak areas.Mark(s)In ink: E Van Rensselaer; embroidery ESProvenanceGlen-Sanders Collection, Scotia, New York.
