DescriptionSquare brick with tapered sides and recessed top and base. Five large holes in the top, one in each corner and one in the middle, and three smaller holes in between each corner hole. Blue tin glaze decorated in blue with a Chinese landscape consisting of water, rocky clumps of grass, trees and a small house with a sloping roof and extended eaves. Blue dots around edge of recessed top, around each of the larger holes, in between each set of three holes, and in each of the four corners.Label TextThere are several recorded examples of this form with the same decoration. The London attribution is based on the decoration and on the fact that a similar piece is painted with a landscape typical of London workmanship.
