DescriptionFlat-bottomed bowl with sides flaring out toward top and a bail handle; potting lines distinctly visible. Bluish tin glaze decorated in blue with floral designs pendent from rim and dashes on handle.Label TextThis basket was probably part of a sweetmeat epergne or centerpiece, a form generally found in silver, glass, and creamware. Josiah Wedgwood’s 1774 creamware catalog mentions "Sweet-meat Baskets" and illustrates a container of this shape with a permanent handle. The form is rare in delft.Inscription(s)NoMark(s)NoProvenanceTilley & Co., Londonca. 1760
