DescriptionA collection of grain-painter's tools collected over a period of time, and kept in a compartmentalized wooden box. Box: Rectangular hinged lid box divided in interior with a "T" shaped divider into a square section at proper right end, and two long rectangular sections no proper left end.
Tools: The collection consists of 11 brass stencils, 31 metal combs of various sized; 11 pieces of wood with scalloped edges of various sizes; 2 miscellaneous small pieces of wood or slate; 1 metal-banded piece of flat wood (possibly part of a brush); 9 brushes of assorted sizes; 5 molded wooden patterns in various shapes; 2 metal rollers of patterned metal discs; and one lone wooden handle.Mark(s)Brass stencils are marked "J. J. Callow Pat. July 5, 1870 Cleveland, Ohio". One brush bears the date May 1, 1900. Other markings which could be a patent number appear on other devices.
