DescriptionWall pocket shaped like a swimming fish. Blue tin glaze decorated in blue and touches of yellow and red; seaweed in mixed green painted on either side of head.Label TextOther recorded examples of this form appear to be from the same mold, including a single one in the Liverpool Museum and two formerly in the Chorley collection. Although the Chorley examples are treated as a pair, they are not like other pairs of wall pockets which are mirror images of each other. The backbone on all four recorded examples curves to the left. It is not known whether complementary pockets were made with the backbone curving to the right or whether identical pieces were intended to be used as pairs. The Liverpool attribution is based on the glaze and the color.Inscription(s)NoMark(s)NoProvenanceA. F. Allbrook, London
