DescriptionBasin: short circular footring supports the circular bowl with an out-turned slightly rolled rim. Decorated in underglaze blue with transfer prints: the exterior with three floral sprays alternating with five butterflies; a hexagonal cell border at the rim, the interior sides with three floral sprays and three insects and a large floral and fruit cluster at the center of the well.Mark(s)An underglazed blue shaded crescent on the underside of the foot.ProvenanceIn 1958, acquired from James Lewis & Son, Inc. by Colonial Williamsburg (Williamsburg, VA) where it remains to the present.
