DescriptionBartmann bottle / Bellarmine Jug: Silver-mounted splayed and molded ring foot supports the elongated bulbous body that rises to a moderate-sized neck having a compound molded collar over which has been applied a silver mount. The upper 3/4 of the jug is covered in a finely mottled dark-brown slip. On the front of the neck is a bearded mask in relief, and below on the body, an oval medallion with a leaf-molded border enclosing the date "1699" above a lion rampant.ProvenanceSource: Roger Warner Antiques, Burford, Oxfordshire, England1720-1760
