DescriptionThis is a needlework portrait worked in shades of grey-blue, red, brown, beige, coral, gold, and green silk and wool embroidery threads. The portrait depicts William III in an ermine robe and is encircled by a wreath decorated with floral sprigs. A crown rests on top of the wreath, while leafy volutes, inscribed with the initials "E C", decorate the bottom. The corner areas have flower sprigs among which rose and thistle may be identified.

The original frame is carved and still retains its silvered finish.
