A member of parliament stands to the left of the speaker (center) addressing the House of Commons. It was published in the 1756 edition of William Maitland's "The History of London from its foundation to the present time" (Book VII, Volume 2). Cole copied the image from John Pine's 1749 print "A view of the House of Commons in the Session 1741-2" (BM 1862,1213.50).
