DescriptionMan's sleeveless waistcoat of white silk satin. The double-breasted front has two rows of nine fabric-covered buttons. Horizontal satin welts cover functional linen pockets. The low standing collar is cut in one with the fronts, but has an inserted stand at the back. The back of the waistcoat has a center seam without adjustments or vents. The front turn-backs are lined with self fabric satin and the remaining waistcoat lined with plain-woven linen.Label TextThis gentleman's silk waistcoat is said to be the 1786 wedding attire of the original wearer, Virginian Col.Samuel Goode, who lived between 1756 and 1822.
