DescriptionTankard: straight-sided porcelaneous mug of cylindrical lathe-turned form with turned ribbed foot; extruded plain ear-shaped handle with proud junctures; transfer printed in dark-brown/green with trimmed sheet print of Order of the Garter badges applied upside down to the exterior of the body including the handle terminals; around the exterior of the rim, a transfer printed band of alternating filled and unfilled rectangles topping a band that includes a crown with flag, swag of oak leaves and acorns, a central heir apparent crown (opposite the handle), a swag of bay leaves, royal insignia chain links, and the Prince of Wales Feathers. The interior rim transfer printed with a vining border of grapes, leaves, and gourds, peaches or some other kind of round fruit.ProvenanceBefore 2018, unknown; probably 2018-2023 [John Howard at Heritage, Oxfordshire, England]; 2023-present, purchased by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (Williamsburg, VA)
