DescriptionChinese export porcelain miniature "tobacco leaf" garniture comprising of three baluster vases with covers and two trumpet vases.Label TextPainted with a pattern often referred to by collectors as “tobacco leaf” or “pseudo-tobacco leaf,” the floral and leafy decoration on this five-piece garniture was particularly popular in late eighteenth and early nineteenth century America; archaeological evidence and intact survivals with histories of ownership reveal the pattern was owned in Virginia, Maryland, and South Carolina. A gift from Joe Hennage to his wife June, this particular garniture graced the parlor mantel of the Hennages’ Williamsburg home for many years and was among their early porcelain acquisitions.
