DescriptionStraight-sided pearlware mug or tankard molded with wavy vertical lines in sets of three extending from approximately half of an inch above the slightly stepped foot. Above the lines, a molded band reading "AMERICA INDEPENDENT 1776:" and a band of molded leafy flowers above the phrase and just below the rim of the vessel, each encircling the vessel; a molded modified S-scroll handle with spurs attached to one side. The wavy lines painted blue; and the molded leafy flower vine decorated with high temperature colors of blue, yellow, green, and brown.Label TextOne of only a handful of straight-sided mugs that bear the molded inscription "AMERICA INDEPENDENT 1776" are known to survive. Of those, at least two patterns exist, with only the punctuation differing.Inscription(s)A molded band reading "AMERICA INDEPENDENT 1776:" encircles the vessel.
