DescriptionSmall square comprised of a single sheet of brass with two plates soldered to the shorter arm, thereby tripling the thickness. Chamfers present on the bottom edges of the shorter arm running two-thirds of its length and terminating with simple stops.Label TextA universal tool among craftsmen, the try square was used to gauge a "square" angle of 90 degrees when marking and laying out work. Tradesman John Jackson clearly valued this square enough to have his name, location, and the date ‘1749’ engraved on it.Mark(s)"John Jackson Selby 1749" engraved on the shoter leg with "A. J CHASE" struck into the other side of the same.
